(x+y)+(x-y) = 6 + 10
x + y + x - y = 6 + 10
2x = 16
x = 8
Then 8 + y = 6 and 8 - y = 10
Subtracts 8 from each side of the equations:
8 + y - 8 = 6-8 and 8 - y - 8 = 10-8
y = -2 and -y = 2 --> y = -2
the solution is (8,-2)
