Hi Dylan B
The question is asking that you look up and manipulate a couple formulas in your text or online.
You can look up the Volume of a Square Pyramid or just the Volume of a Pyramid
You look up the Perimeter of Square for your square base.
Generally speaking since the Volume of a Pyramid is (1/3)*Area of the Base*Height and you have a Square base then the Volume of a square Pyramid is (1/3)* Area of the Square Base*Height
You are given the Perimeter of your Square Base
The Perimeter of a Square = 4s where s is the length of the side
For your Base
Perimeter = 8.6 = 4s
Now just solve for s to get the side
4s = 8.6
s = 8.6/4
s = 2.15
Since we have a square where all the sides are the same we can calculate the area of the base
Area of a Square = s2 = (2.15)2
The height of the Pyramid was given as 6.1 cm
Everything can be plugged in
Volume = (1/3)*(2.15)2*6.1
Give that a try if you have any questions please just send a message.
