hi,
Part A -Write an equation when Angle A and Angle B are vertical angles
vertical angels are always congruent, so A = B ----> 40 = 5x ----> x = 8
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part B -Write an equation when Angle A and Angle B are supplementary angles.
sum of supplementary angles is 180, so A + B = 180 ----> 40 + 5x = 180 -----> 5x = 140 ---> x = 28
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part C -Write an equation when Angle A and Angle B are complementary angles.
sum of complementary angles is 90, so A + B = 90 ----> 40 + 5x = 90 -----> 5x = 50 ---> x = 10
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope it is useful,
Minoo
