16 x 2 = 32 is the area of a rectangle at the bottom of the figure
then add the area of a triangle above: 10 by 10 by 16
It has height of 6, base 16, area = hb/2 = 6(16)/2 = 48
48+32 = 80 square feet = area of the figure
take the 10 by 10 by 16, divide it into 2 right triangles, 10 as hypotenuse and 8 as the base. then altitude = 6. 6^2 = 10^2 - 8^2 = 100-64 = 36
6x8=48/2 =24, 24x2 =48 for 2 triangles
