A certain species of bird migrates 14,000 miles in 90 days. It rests 8 hours each day and flies the rest. A person "race walking" can walk 20 kilometers in 100 minutes. Who moves faster, the bird or the person? Justify your reasoning.

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
16(90) =1440 total hours the bird flies
14000 miles
distance = rate of speed time time
d=4t
14000=1440r
r= 14000/1440 = 9.7222.. miles per hour= about 9.7 mph for the bird's speed
20km in 100 minutes = 20 km/100 min = 20km/(100/60)hours
= 20 km/1.6 hrs = 12.4274 mi./1.6 hr
= 7.767125 mph
the bird wins, by almost 2 mph, on average.
If the person took an 8 hour break over 90 days, the bird's average speed would be even far greater.
