Hi Stacy, if you drop a vertical line from the kite to the ground, you create a right triangle with A.J. the base, the height of the kite one leg and the length of the string the hypotenuse.
Then the height of the kite can be found by:
Sin a = x / h
Where a is the angle of elevation
x is the height of the kite
h is the hypotenuse
Sin 37 = x / 54
x = 54 * sin 37
x = 32.5 feet
