How can I solve this? I can't even put a proper title for this one.

Question

The question is ..

A student finishes the first half of an exam in 2/3 time it takes him to finish the second half. If the entire exam takes him an hour, how many minutes does he spend on the first half of the exam?

I have no idea where to start to solve this problem I only know that

60 = 2/3 + second half.

exam time = 1 hour

1st half of the exam takes 2/3 the time to finish the 2nd half

x = time to take the 1st half = 2/3)(60-x)

3x = 120-2x

5x = 120

x = 120/5 = 24 minutes for the 1st half

60-24 = 36 minutes for the 2nd half

24 = 2/3 x 36
