A) x2-2x-24 = (x-6)(x+4) = 0, x = 6,-4
B) for x2+bx+c, a perfect square is (x+b/2)2 or (x-1)2 = x2-2x+1. So we have to add 1 and subtract 1.
(x-1)2 -1 -24 = (x-1)2-25=0
x-1 = ±√25 = ±5
x = 1±5 = 6, -4
C) x = (2±√(4-4(1)(-24)))/2 = (2 ± √100)/2 = 1 ±5 = 6,-4
