5.5 gallons of fuel costs $14.64. What is the cost of 26.0 gallons of the same fuel?
You can set this up as a ratio.
5.5 gallons/$14.64 equals 26 gallons/x.
Then set the 5.5 equal to x and, $14.64 to 26.
Then simplify.
The 5.5x should equal 380.64. Then divide by 5.5 to get x by itself.
X = 69.2
Check answer: $14.64/5= 2.66181818(26).
This will give you the same answer.
