Hello!
So the formula for the slope of a line passing through two points is:
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1), where the y's are our points' y-coordinates and the x's are our x-coordinates. If you've heard of this as "rise over run," that makes sense because our y's are the vertical axis and so those rise (and fall) on a line, whereas the x's on the horizontal axis run in either direction.
Back to our problem!
Using (-2,4) as point 1 and (5,9) as point 2, we have:
(y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1) = (9 - 4) / [5 - (-2)]
= 5 / 7
and that is our slope! hope this helped :)
