this can be modelled by this equation 15=2x+3 because if she had 15 dollars then that is the output which is the total cost in dollars on all the items she brought while x is the individual cost of each item so the the cost of the items depends on the individual costs. 3 is the three dollars for the notebook 2x represents the 2 paintbrushes she brought with an unknown price and the cost of the brushes can be found with the algebraic equation shown below so
15=2x+3->subtract 3 on both sides->12=2x->divide by 2 on both sides->x=6 so each paintbrush cost 6 dollars each. That's pretty expensive
