Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
2x+ 1/2 = 3
2x = 3-1/2 = 6/2-1/2 = 5/2
x =(5/2)/2 = 5/4
x=5/4= 1.25
3y=4x+10
3y=4(5/4) +10 =5+10 =15
y = 15/3 = 5
solution is (5/4, 5)
UNLESS, maybe you left out a "y" after the 1/2 in the 1st equation?
Usually these problems have both variables in both equations
(1/2)y +2x = 3
multiply by 6
3y +12x = 18, subtract to eliminate the y variable
3y-4x = 10
16x=8
x=1/2
3y-4(1/2) = 10
3y =10+2
y =12/3 = 4
solution is (1/2,4)
