The length of a rectangle is three times the width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 32 inches. What is the area of the rectangle (in square inches)?

32 = 2L + 2W
16 = L + W
16 = 3W + W
4W = 16
W = 16/4 = 4
L= 3W = 3(4) = 12
LW = 12(4) = 48
Area = LW = 48 square inches
