Based on this information, in order to calculate the numbers of miles after x hours (a certain time), plug in the time in hours for x and complete the calculation to solve the problem. For example, after 10 hours, this is the distance in miles that the train has travelled from the station:
y = 150 - 3(10) = 150 - 30 = 120 miles.
