a) (x - 9) (x + 8) They reversed the 9 and the 8.

b) (x - 4 )(3x - 7) The sum of the middle terms would not be -19x using their factors.

c) (6x + 1 ) (x + 4) They used the wrong factors of 6 for the first terms in their factors.
