when will the ball reach a height of 50 feet?

50 = -16t^2 + 64t + 4

-16t^2 +64t -46 = 0

-8t^2 + 32t -23 = 0

t = -32/-16 + (1/16)sqr(32^2 -4(8)(23)) = 2 + or - 1.06

it reaches max height at t = 32/16 = 2 seconds

max height = 68 feet

it reaches 50 feet on the way up at 0.94 seconds and on the way down at 3.06 seconds. IF you had to choose one time, 0.94 probably is what you want.
