ants have 6 legs, spiders 8 (at least usually) all insects have 6 legs, aunts though have 2 legs, same as uncles. spiders mostly have 8 legs. That's assuming no disabled amputees. Let A = number of ants. Let S=number of spiders.
6A+8S = 168
A+S = 26
6A+6S =26(6) = 156
subtract last equation from the first to eliminate one variable
2S = 12
S = 12/2 = 6 spiders
A=26-6 = 20 ants
