Kamden and Jace had some marbles. Kamden gave away 18 marbles and Jace gave away 1/3 as many marbles as Kamden. Jace had 2 more marbles left than the marbles he gave away. Kamden had twice as many marbles left as Jace. How many marbles did Kamden and Jace have in total at first?

let j = the marbles he gave away. J is left with j+2 marbles= 18/3+2 = 8

K has 2(j+2) marbles left = 2j+4

K gave away 18, so K originally had 18+2j+4 = 22+2j= 22+2(6) = 34

J gave away 1/3 of 18 or 6 marbles. J originally had 8+6 = 14

Kamden originally had 34 marbles. Jace originally had 14 marbles
