If you wish to make a tape diagram I can give you some pointers. Find it says that 1/3 of a gallon of water is found in a 3 gallon container so 3/3 or 1gallon of water can be determined to potentially fill the container so place three rectangular stripes of equal length and width one on top of the other to represent one gallon divided onto thirds and since there are three gallons simply make two more of these gallon rectangles that are divided into thirds as well. So now you have 9 rectangular stripes of equal length and width one on top of the other where every third strip is marked off to indicate a single gallon. Than fill in one of these rectangles with a distinctive color to mark the fraction and these fraction will turn out to be 1/9 since there are 9 equal pieces in this tape diagram that can be divided into thirds and those thirds can also be divided by thirds as well and one of those thirds represents the fraction you are looking for which is 1/9 of a gallon in a 3-gallon container
