distance = square root of 29 = about 5.4
(5,1) (3,6)
distance squared = sum of squares of the x and y differences
d^2 = (6-1)^2 + (3-5)^2 = 5^2 + 2^2 = 25+4 = 29
d= square root of 29 = about 5.4
and just in case there might be other questions on the same problem:
line through the points has slope = m = (6-1)/(3-5) = 5/-2 = -5/2
y=mx + b
y =-5x/2 + b, plug in either point to solve for b
1=(-5/2)(5) + b
b =1+25/2 = 27/2
y=-5x/2 + 27/2 in slope intercept standard form
or if you want to eliminate fractions, multiply by 2 to get
2y=-5x +27 or if you want to eliminate negative signs
5x+2y = 27
