The original number of cards is going to be our x. He sold half, so we'll start out with x/2 (x divided by 2). Let's put away our x/2 in parentheses so that we know it goes first under PEMDAS. Then he bought 12 more. (x/2) + 12 = 65. You were only asked to write the equation, but let's solve it too, just for fun. I'm going to first subtract the +12 from both sides of the equals sign. Now we're left with: (x/2) = 53. Now we can forget the parentheses and get rid of that "divided by two." To do that, we'll multiply by two on both sides of the equals sign instead. x = 106 baseball cards.04/27/21
