12 = k(6/7)

k =(7/6)12 = 14

y=kx

16 = 14x

x = 16/14 = 8/7

16 is 1/3 more than 12, 16= 12+ 12/3 = 12+4

6/7(1/3)= 2/7. 2/7 + 6/7 = 8/7 is 1/3 more than 6/7. 1/3 of 6/7 = 2/7

BUT if y is inversely related to x, then

y=x/k

12=7/k

k = 7/12

y=x/7/12 = 12x/7

y = 12x/7

16 = 12x/7

112 = 12x

x = 112/12 = 56/6

x =56/6=28/3

odd are the expected answer is the direct relation with x = 8/7 when y= 16
