If I walk 20 miles in 5 hours what is my speed

This is a classic Rate (R) times (x) Time (T) = Distance (D) problem. RxT=D. You will see this again and again in your math pursuits.....so in this case we have....
D = 20 miles
T= 5 hours
R = ?? so we have.... R x 5 hours = 20 miles.....now solve for R we have...
R (rate) = Distance (D) / Time (T)......or....... R = 20 miles/5hours = 4 miles/hour....4 mph.....
....check your results..... r x t = d....... 4 x 5 = 20..............keep your units straight....
4 m/h x 5 h = 20 miles......notice how the units work in the equation too......m/h x h = m......
