10x - 9x = x is a tautology. It's always true. It's an identity, which is true regardless of the value of x. x can be any real or imaginary number and the equation is still true.
if x = 1, 10-9=1
if x =10, 100-90=10
if x =4pi+7isqr2, the equation is still true.
10x-9x = x
(10-9)x=x
(1)x =x
x=x
substitute any value, number, imaginary, irrational, real or even an object and x=x is still true. pi=pi, sqr41 = sqr42, pi+i = pi+i, red=red, rooster=rooster
