Given: The measure of angle 5 is 130 and the measure of angle 3 is 50. Prove that line p is parallel to line q.

Since the angle 5 is 130 degrees it follows that angle 6 is 50 degrees. Hence, angle 6 and angle 3 are equal and by the alternate interior angles criterion the two lines must be parallel.
