Three philosophies were Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism.
Tang and Song were the two dynasties during the Golden Age of China
The Tang Dynasty was the height of Buddhism in China. The dynasty focused and expansion of territory and openness to other cultures, and had the largest land and population growth in China's history.
The Song Dynasty saw the revival of ancient Confucianism. This affected government in that Confucian ideas became the basis for the vast expansion of civil service exams that were used to select government officials, or scholar-officials. Zhu Xi synthesized Confucius' ideas and wrote commentaries, and Xi's ideas, or Neo-Confucianism, were used to make the test questions on the civil service exams. These questions stayed on the exam mostly intact until 1905.
