slope of f(x) = x is 1, the coefficient of x is an implicit 1
change the slope to 2/3 and the new line is: f(x)=(2/3)x = 2x/3, which is less steep. 2/3<1
y intercept of f(x)= x is zero
if you change the y intercept to 4 then the new equation is f(x) =x + 4
the standard general linear equation is f(x) or y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept. in the original problem m= 1 and b=0
then it changed to m=2/3, and finally to b=4
