Let x represent the price of burgers and y represent the price of hotdogs:
2x + 3y = 22.5
6x + y = 22.5
so,
y = 22.5 - 6x
2x + 3(y) = 22.5
2x + 3(22.5 - 6x) = 22.5
2x + 67.5 - 18x = 22.5
-16x = -45
x = $2.8125
y = 22.5 - 6(2.8125) = $5.625
So realistically speaking this couldn't be true because you can't charge a fraction of a penny. However, for the sake of the math problem and the numbers given, these are the prices.
