All of the baskets he made were either 2-point baskets or 3-point baskets (he did not make any free

throws). If he scored a total of 49 points in that game, how many of each type of basket did he

make?

X + y = 21

2x + 3y= 49

2x + 3(21 -x)=49

2x + 63 - 3x = 49

-x + 63 =49

-x= -14

X=14
