4 Degrees?! Pick me!!
Hi there! Montezuma II was actually the 9th ruler of the Aztec Empire from about 1502 to 1520, not the Incan Empire. Montezuma is most famously remembered for his "dramatic confrontation" with Spanish conquistador, Hernando Cortes.
Here's a little more information in case you'd like to know more about the differences between the Aztec and Incan Empires:
- The Aztec Empire was located in Mexico and Central America, whereas the Incan Empire was largely based around Columbia, Peru, Chile, and the Andes Mountains.
- The Aztec Empire lasted from 1250 to 1521 (271 years), whereas the Incan Empire lasted from 1438 to 1532 (94 years).
- Some major accomplishments of the Aztecs included their creation of roads, bridges, and taxes and the use of chinampas, or farmers, in their agricultural industry. The Incas are known for the quipu (a rope with different colored and lengths of knots that represented a record keeping system) and for their thousands of miles of roads and bridges that were constructed expertly.
Hopefully this helps you a little!
