Leo has taken four of the five exams in his algebra class. His scores on the four exams were 94, 88, 92, and 88. The instructor told students they must have at least a 90 as their average test score for all five exams to get a grade of A in the class. What is the lowest score Leo can get on the fifth exam to earn an A in his algebra class?

Leo needs at least an 88 on the 5th test to have a 90 average and A for the course

94+88+92+88+x = 5(90) = 450

362 +x = 450

x = 450-362 = 88

x=88 = the minimum 5th test grade needed to get an A

or maybe the instructor rounds up for 89.5 average to 90 and still an A?

if so,

x = 5(89.5) -362 = 447.5-362 = 85.5 as the minimum needed on the 5th test to still get an A
