A cell phone provider pffers a plan that costs $40 a month plus $0.10 per text message sent or received. A comparable plan costs $70 a month but offers unlimited text messaging. How many text messages would have to be sent or received in order for the plans to cost the same each month

Hi Connor,

in order for the plans to cost the same, you should be able to send a certain number of text messages let that number be x, such that the total cost would be $70

so the $40 per month plus 10 cents per text for x number of texts- when you add these two should equal $70.

So we have,

40 + 0.10*x = 70

subtract 40 on both sides

0.10x= 30

divide by 0.10 on both sides

x=300

The number of text messages would have to be 300
