The formula for calculating the area of a circle is:

In this problem, we w that the area is 484 ¶, so we can substitute this value for A and solve the equation for the radius first:
A = ¶ • r2
484 ¶ = ¶ • r2
Divide both sides by pi:
484 = r2
The radius will be equal to the square root of 484 which is 22 cm.
Since the diameter is 2 times the radius for any circle, the diameter will be:
2 • 22 = 44 cm
