Grammar- use of commas

Would you put a comma between replied and with?


"No," he replied with a rolling of the eyes.

Also, would the same rule apply to if I was to write "as he" so that it read: "No," he replied as he rolled his eyes.

Yes, a comma is needed in this case. It's similar to the example that previous tutor gave.
