Let x = the number of hours worked
Let y = the total amount charged
Jake: y = 12x+5
Brianna: y = 10x+10
a) 12x+5 = 10x+10
b) Solving for x
2x = 5
x = 5/2 = 2.5 hours
c)
Jake: 12(6) +5 = 72+5 = $77
Brianna: 10(6) + 10 = 60+10 = $70
Disagree
5+12x = 10 + 10x
2x=5
x=2.5
so after 2 and a half hours, they charge the same.
