You calculate an inverse by solving for x in terms of y
y = 1/2x-1 + 2
y - 2 = 1/2x-1
log2 (y - 2) = 1 - x
log2 (y - 2) - 1 = -x
-log2(y-2) + 1 = x
If you prefer,
-ln(y-2)/ln(2) + 1 = x, or
x = -ln(y-2)/ln(2) + 1
Changing into the inverse function, switch x and y
y = -ln(x-2)/ln(2) + 1
