A word math problem that im confused on where he went wrong (algebra 1)

Brian solved the equation below and got x = 4. Amy looked at his work and said, "I am not so sure, I do not think your solution is correct". If Brian's work is correct, put "4" in the answer box for being correct. If Brian's work is incorrect, solve the equation correctly and put in the correct answer in the box.

(x + 5)^2 − 3x − 9    =   (x − 2)^2

x^2 + 25 −3x − 9     =     x^2 + 4 

       25  − 9 −3x      =      4 

              16 −3x         =      4      

             −3x          =   −12       

                 x            =       4
