When asked for the slope and y-intercept, the most transparent form of a line is the slope-intercept form which looks like:
y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
Now just rewrite the equation you have into the slope-intercept form:
-3x+4y = 5 [First, Isolate y into one side]
4y = 3x + 5
y = 3/4 x + 5/4 [Then make sure the right side has the form: constant * x + constant]
Now the equation gives you everything you need:
y = m x + b
y = 3/4 x + 5/4
Ans: slope = 3/4 = 0.75
y-intercept = 5/4 = 1.25
Hello, Bon,
Rewrite the equation tn standard slope/intercept form: y = mx + b, where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.
−3x+4y=5
4y = 3x + 5
y = (3/4)x + (5/4)
y = mx + b
m= (3/4)
b = (5/4)
