You and a friend go to an amusement park. Your cost with entry fee and 7 rides was

$22. Your friend's cost for entry fee and 9 rides is $26. Write and solve a system of

linear equations to determine the entry fee and the cost of a ride.

F + 7R = 22

F + 9R = 26

subtract 1st from 2nd equation to eliminate F

2R = 4

R = $2 for a ride

plug that into either equation to solve for F

F + 7(2) = 22

F = 22-14 = 8

F = $8 for the entry fee
