Question

1. Two rectangles have the same perimeter.  

Rectangle A: length =7cm and width = 5cm 

Rectangle B: Length = 4x – 3 and width =x 

Write and solve an equation to help you find the length and width of Rectangle B.

Perimeter = 2(7+5) = 24 cm

= 2(4x-3 + x) = 2(5x-3) = 10x -6 = 24

10x = 30

x = 3 cm

4x-3 = 9 cm

the other rectangle is 3 by 9 cm

2(3+9) = 24
