I think your problem is to find a and b such that log to the base 8 of the cube root of a = b ?

If so, then a^(1/3) = 8^b

(8^b)^3 = a

So you can plugging in integers for b, to get your a values:

b a

0 1

1 8^3 = 2^9

2 64^3 = 2^18

3 2^27

etc. Suggest you print your teacher out an entire page of Excel printout; perhaps he/she would settle for a finite subset??
