16 years online, 464 former SAT problems drilled down
Lw = 15 (ft) ← given
Ww = 9 (ft) ← given
Lw - length of the wall
Ww - width of the wall
Wd = 3 (ft) ← given
Hd = 7 (ft) ← given
Wd - width of the doorway
Hd - height of the doorway
Calculating the area of the wall including the doorway:
Aw = Lw • Ww = 15 • 9 = 135 (ft2)
Calculating the area of the doorway:
Ad = Wd • Hd = 3 • 7 = 21 (ft2)
Calculating the area to cover with wall paper:
Aw - Ad = 135 - 21 = 114 (ft2)

This problem does not model real world situations. Wall paper is sold in rolls. This problem assumes the area is malleable; it is not.02/19/21
