Hi Keira,
To answer this question you need to get your units of measure the same. "Miles" and "yards" are obviously two different measures. So is "hours" and "seconds". But let's start with converting miles per hour to feet per hour first.
So take your 61 and, knowing that there are 5,280 feet in a mile, you multiply
61 x 5280 = 322,080 feet per hour
(pretty large number, right?)
But since we're measuring in seconds, we need to divide that number by 60 to get feet per minute (since there are 60 minutes in an hour).
322,080 / 60 = 5,368 feet per minute
And then divide that answer by 60 again, to get feet per second (since there are 60 seconds per minute)
5,368 / 60 = 89.467 feet per second (6 is repeating, so I rounded the 3rd number up to 7).
Finally, to get "yards", you need to know there are 3 feet in every yard. So you need divide your answer by 3 and voila! You have your yards per second! I'll let you get the final number. [Hint, final number will be between 28-30 yds/second]
