Question

One canned juice drink is 30% orange juice; another is 10% orange juice. How many liters of each should be mixed together in order to get 20L that is 16% orange juice?

x = amount of 30%   y = amount of 10%

 

x + y = 20 >>>>y = 20 -x

 

.30x + .10(20 - x) = .16(20) >>>  .30x - .10x + 2 =3.2 >>> .20x = 1.2  x= 6 liters   y = 14 liters
