Two friends are hiking on a mountain trail. Dale leaves at 11:00 am and starts on a pace of 4km/hr. One hour later Stacy starts out on the same trail at a pace of 6km/hr. What time will Stacy to catch up to Dale?

Answer 1

4(H+1) = 6H

4H +4 = 6H

2H = 4

H = 4/2 = 2 hours for Stacy to catch up

2 hours after 12 pm is 2 pm, Stacy left at 12 pm

they both went 12 km, 6x2 = 12 and 4(3) = 12
