Find two points on the graph of the parabola other than the vertex and x-intercepts.
k(x)=(x−1)2−9
1 Expert Answer
k(x) = (x − 1)2 − 9
Pick any random values for x and fill them into the function to get the k(x) values.
I will pick x = 8 and x = –3.
k(x) = (x − 1)2 − 9
k(8) = (8 – 1)2 – 9
k(8) = 72 – 9
k(8) = 49 – 9
k(8) = 40
So one point on the parabola is (8,40).
k(x) = (x − 1)2 − 9
k(–3) = (–3 – 1)2 – 9
k(–3) = (–4)2 – 9
k(–3) = 16 – 9
k(–3) = 7
A second point on the parabola is (–3,7).
There are an infinite number of points on the parabola and an infinite number of points not on the parabola. I have given you two points that are on the parabola.
Best to you!
