The original equation is that of a circle with its center at the origin and a radius of 4. if you only stretch in the vertical direction you create an ellipse with the minor along the x axis and the major axis along the y axis of 3 x4=12

So in ellipse form this is (x^2/16) + (y^2/144) =1. since the graph is already symmetric around the y axis reflecting around the y axis will not change the equation
