If he cut it in 2, he'd have 10 yards and 10 years, 20/2 =10
if he cut it "in 1 3/4" divide 20 by 1 3/4. 1 3/4 = 7/4. 10/(7/4) = 10(4/7)= 40/7
20-40/7 = 140/7 - 40/7 = 100/7.
He has 2 pieces of rope, one is 40/7 and the other is 100/7 yards
that's about, roughly, 6 and 14 yards.
