2N =6-14 = - 8
2N = -8
N =-8/2 = -4
N = -4
or if you meant 2N-6 = 14 then
2N =20 and N =10
the difference between 2 numbers could mean the 1st minus the 2nd or the 2nd minus the 1st
or it could mean the absolute value of whichever you put 1st or 2nd.
absolute value of 6-2N = 14 is
N=-4 or N = 10.
It could be either - 4 or 10 or both
usually though, it means -4 as you put the 6 first and 2N 2nd for the difference.
