1) Find slope- this refers to your slope or m value of the equation in y=mx+b form. The slope in your equation y=-x+9 is -1. We get the -1 because there is -1x (we could also write your equation as 1y=-1x+9).
2) make your slope perpendicular to itself. this is done with whats called the "opposite reciprocal" aka flip and change your sign. so your slope of -1 really means -1/1 so we change the sign to positive and flip, so our slope becomes 1/1 aka 1.
3) plug in your points to solve for a new y intercept - you know coordinate points are listed as (x,y) so given your points (-2,-2) you have x=-2 and y=-2 then solve to find your new "b" value ** remember b in y=m+b is the y- intercept**
4) now work your problem- lined up steps below...
______________________________________________________________________
y=-1x+9
y=1x+b
-2= 1*-2+b
-2=-2+b
+2. +2
0=b
now CHECK** then rewrite your solution- y=1x+0 you can also write this y=x
